Her initial inspiration was the shadows that were cast onto grass. Months later she came up with a technique that didn't create the object she chose on canvas as an image that was flat. If the object is alive or perishable like fruit and even people that they transform into a picture of themselves. Alexa's style of painting is one of ephemeral, and only photos of her work remain. Painting and photography are closely connected to form two-dimensional flat surface which is trompe l'oeil. In certain places, the three-dimensional space can be observed, such as near the eye or the hair. Meade can sometimes incorporate her model in the three-dimensional surroundings around it and allows the model to be a part of their own world. The result is a blurring of the lines between photography, painting, and installation.
